The bronze sculpture, which has the form of a surfboard, is called "The Southerner" and was created by Iacopo Capone - Doumas.
It is placed outside the plaza of Asteras Vouliagmeni and represents a surfboard "riding" the wave.
It is  "symbolizes the sporting spirit of the city which has been intertwined for decades with the sea. It is a sculpture 4-meter high that will "accompany" all the surfers who are gathered in the bay of Vouliagmeni when the south winds blow and "symbolizes the sporting spirit of the city which has been intertwined for decades with the sea.
