Minor Asia of our hearts

Three days of remembrance events for Asia Minor Hellenism that includes historical tributes, theatrical events, suggestions and narratives related to the refugee issue, concerts and dance events.

It is an event of remembrance for the refugee families who came and lived in Voula in '22 and who created a dynamic community and distinguished themselves in all the activities of social life of the region.
Through a series of events, the Organization of Sport, Culture and Children's Education of the Municipality (OAPPA) gives the opportunity to the residents and citizens of the city to learn unknown aspects of the greatest possible destruction of Hellenism, and to remember the tragic moments experienced by the Greeks of Asia Minor.

The three-day event for Asia Minor takes place every year in the first half of September in Imion Square, Voula.

After the 1920s a very large percentage of the people living in our city and especially in Voula were refugees from Asia Minor.
In 2022, 100 years have passed since the uprooting, the massacres and the dehumanization of the Greeks of Asia Minor. Digital material (photos and videos) from the Internet was collected with respect and a lot of zeal, which was then colorized.

The main objective is to educate the new generations about the truth which is often well hidden in unseen paths, hidden under the ruins of the lives of hundreds of thousands of people who were sacrificed for no reason, powerless to the decisions of the powerful and above all TO NOT FORGET and NOT TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES AGAIN .

The digital audio-visual material was divided into 9 thematic sections (Period 1919-1922, Daily life before September 1922, Departure of the Greek Forces, Refugees on the Waterfront, Turkish entry into Smyrna, The Great Fire, The next day of the disaster, Searching for salvation on the ships, Refugees in Greece).
